There are a few different themes that I would like to explore when making my book. It is likely going to be a series of photographs that I took, which communicate a certain feeling, perhaps a dreamy or a sentimental one. I found two books on the Printed Matter website which I found to be interesting. The first is called "Stapleton Studio" (by Arjuna Routte-Prieur, 2022). Through drawings, it portrays a sort of magical figure in a hoodie, in mostly neighborhood environments. I found it to be visually appealing, having a sort of dreamy feeling, and perhaps feeling a bit isolated. The second book is called "Tabitha Soren: Surface Tension" (by Tabitha Soren, 2021). It is also visually appealing in some ways. Some of the images were not taken by the author and were instead taken from social media, text messages, and internet. They were altered in some ways to appear more aggressive and portray more tension while some image were made to look more "quiet". Overall, I would say I am likely to borrow slightly from both artists. I am a fan of the aesthetics and themes of "Stapleton Studio", which I am likely to resemble through photographs. And the "Surface Tension" shows some interesting ways in which some of my images may also be manipulated. I will primarily use a linear method to explore the themes of dreaminess, sentimentality and seclusion. The "linear" aspect will be seen in the way that the images stay within the boundaries of these themes, as well as how there is reference to a defined beginning and ending.
